The Sindh government has concluded preparations for the launch of the Sindh Youth Card, a new initiative to provide educational, financial and employment help to the youth of the state.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will formally launch the programme in the last week of August.
Sindh Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mahar said that the project is being launched on special instructions of the PPP chairman to provide more access to education, skills development and job possibilities for the youth of the province.
In the first phase, the Sindh Youth Card would be distributed among 100,000 youths between the age of 15 to 29 from all 30 districts of Sindh.
Cardholders are eligible for university scholarships and higher education opportunities in Pakistan and abroad. They will also be able to take advantage of interest-free loans, financial help and advanced skills training programmes.
Other benefits include reductions on local public transport and train fares, and priority access to some public and private sector services.
The effort, Mahar says, is meant to help young people who have not been able to get enough access to government help in the past to become more financially independent through equitable opportunity.
The registration for Sindh Youth Card will be done completely online through a simple application process. Only those having Sindh domicile would be able to apply.
The card will be issued in cooperation with Jazz Bank, and more details and full registration guidelines will be published in the following days.
