Weeks after Qualcomm announced its latest flagship CPUs, Xiaomi has debuted the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro is the first commercial phone with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is the first device to be powered by the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
Both smartphones have larger batteries, improved telephoto cameras, hardware privacy displays and updated rear displays with additional AI features.
Design & Display
Xiaomi 18 Pro sports a 6.4-inch LTPO AMOLED display and 18 Pro Max comes with a bigger 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display.
Both phones include 2K resolution, a refresh rate that can range from 1Hz to 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 4,000 nits. The displays are protected with Dragon Crystal Glass 3.
Xiaomi has also included privacy screens at the hardware level to stop anyone around from viewing content from an angle.

The privacy feature can be enabled depending on the location and can hide notifications, floating windows, and split-screen information from the side views. Alternatively, users can enable it via the specific AI button on the left of the phones.
Xiaomi has preserved the previous generation’s rear display but enhanced its functionality. Users may now create tiny apps on the rear screen with the Xiao AI helper.
Xiaomi showed out a number of examples, including reminders to drink water, timers for preparing eggs and recipe recommendations. The rear display may also be used to access Xiao AI and operate as a viewfinder for the rear cameras as well as for AI-created wallpapers and widgets.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max come in black, white, pink, and blue. There is also a special red model with translucent parts on the back panel.
Both variants are IP69 rated for dust and water resistance.
