This week, all banks in Pakistan will stay closed for three consecutive days, due to the public holiday of Independence Day and the customary weekend off.
KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Thursday stated that the bank will stay closed on Friday, August 14, 2026, on account of Independence Day, which has been proclaimed as a public holiday by the Government of Pakistan.
The public holiday will be followed by the customary Saturday and Sunday weekly holidays. That will mean the closure of physical bank branches across the country from Friday to Sunday.
Normal banking business will probably be resumed on Monday, August 17.
“Customers are advised to complete their work before the three-day closure for any work that needs to be carried out at a bank branch such as cash withdrawals, account-related matters, submission of documents or other in-person services.
The holiday largely affects physical branches. Digital banking services such as mobile apps, ATMs, internet banking and other electronic services may be available during the break, although this will differ amongst banks.
For service-specific changes during the holiday period, please refer to your own bank.
