FIA Cracks Down on Fake Universities Exploiting Pakistani Students

FIA Cracks Down on Fake Universities

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to establish a complete database of suspected international colleges and nations where Pakistani students are enrolled without sufficient academic credential verification.

FIA Immigration is looking into countries and schools it suspects of helping students enroll fraudulently. Several colleges allow Pakistani students without sufficient scrutiny of their academic credentials, leaving them susceptible to fraud and abuse, officials said.

“Protecting students and their families from fraud, forgery and deception remains a key priority,” the FIA added. The organization is compiling a list of international universities whose legal recognition or required accreditation has not been granted to enable Pakistani students to enroll.

Once the database is ready, the information will be shared with the Interior Ministry. The ministry is expected to contact the relevant countries and universities on the matter.

The FIA will also take action against the institutions that admit students who do not match the prescribed academic qualifications.

As part of the wider operation, the agency will also target anyone duping students by offering them admissions in fraudulent or unrecognised universities.

The program is aimed at stemming educational fraud against Pakistani students who wish to study higher education overseas and help protect them and their families from fraudulent admission schemes.
