The government of Pakistan has come up with a new e-stamp system to make the traditional stamp paper procedure digital and to make stamp-related services more convenient for the residents.
The plan was launched by the Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, in a ceremony held as part of the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
The minister said the government has gone online with the stamp paper system and now individuals can avail the associated services digitally instead of going through the paper-based procedures.
Earlier, Shaza Fatima claimed the public has to encounter many problems to obtain and use physical stamp papers. The new digital system should cut down on paperwork, speed up procedures and make things more accessible.
The minister further noted that e-stamp was initiated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif when he was the Chief Minister of Punjab.
“We are now concentrating on citizen-centric digital services and leveraging technology to provide public sector processes that are swifter, simpler and more accessible,” she said.
The e-stamp introduction is a part of Pakistan’s wider digital transformation efforts, as the government aims to minimise paper-based documents and increase the delivery of public services through digital platforms.
