TikTok is rolling out three new comment options to provide viewers with more ways to interact with videos. The improvements add comments other than basic text, so viewers can reply with voice recordings, photo carousels, and live photographs.

Voice comments add audio to replies on TikTok
The largest feature is voice comments, which allow viewers to post audio remarks right under videos. Users can click on the microphone button in the comment box, record a message, and post it as a voice reply.
In addition, TikTok will show a translated text version underneath voice comments, making audio responses simpler to grasp across languages.
Voice comments may last up to 60 seconds. The functionality is intended to enable users to react more expressively, whether they’re reacting to a funny joke, singing along with a creator, or reacting to something unexpected in a video, TikTok explains.
The service is rolling out to customers 18 and up and should be available to eligible users over the next month.
TikTok launches photo-based comments
TikTok is also providing users more flexibility in reacting with photos. Photo carousel comments enable users to attach up to nine photos in one comment.
If you tap an image, it opens a scrollable carousel to view images. That capability might be especially handy for users who wish to share multiple photographs related to a video, rather than a single image.
For example, a user commenting on a video about travel might include several photographs from their own travels in a single comment.
Another way for users to engage visually: live images are also supported by TikTok. Standard picture comments are now accessible internationally, with photo carousel comments rolling out over the coming month.
More Ways to Get Involved With Creators
The new tools are part of TikTok’s broader push to make comment sections more participatory. Instead of confining users to text-based replies, the platform is introducing richer forms to make conversations surrounding videos more dynamic.
The increased comment options could enable more methods for authors to engage with consumers and encourage more meaningful discussion.
As the new capabilities roll out globally, TikTok users will have more ways to express feelings, share experiences, and join discussions without relying just on text.
