KP Plans 20% Toll Increase for Swat Expressway

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is to hike Swat Motorway Phase I toll prices by 20%. The proposed amendment will be implemented only following the consent of the provincial cabinet.

The 57th meeting of the KP Cabinet was set to consider the increased toll rates, and the proposal was on the agenda. But the cabinet meeting set for the 21st of August was postponed.

The planned hike will boost toll for Swat Motorway Phase I from Rs. 270 to Rs. 324. This means motorists will have to pay Rs.54 more, which is a 20% increase.

The administration suggested the revision as part of its intention to revise toll prices for the motorway.

However, the new tariff has not yet come into effect. It would need the consent of the KP Cabinet before it comes into force.

The idea will be addressed at the next cabinet meeting when the meeting set for August 21 is rescheduled.
