The federal government has approved Rs 567.032 million for beefing up security arrangements for the Reko Diq mining project in Balochistan.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Monday approved the proposal.
“Funds will be used as per the approved proposal for payment of security charges to the Headquarters Frontier Corps Balochistan (South) for providing security support to the Reko Diq project.
The money will help ensure security remains in place around the big mining project while development and related activities continue in the province.
Reko Diq is being constructed in Balochistan and is one of Pakistan’s major mining projects. The initiative is anticipated to boost the country’s mining sector, drawing investment and creating economic possibilities in the area.
The current allocation is proof of the government’s commitment to providing adequate protection to the country’s important strategic and development initiatives.
