Strategy, the world’s largest publicly traded holder of Bitcoin, raised about $2 billion by selling its MSTR common stock and not touching its Bitcoin.
Strategy sold 18.26 million MSTR shares between August 17 and August 23 under its at-the-market stock offering program, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The corporation raised a substantial amount of money this week but did not buy any more Bitcoin. Its Bitcoin holdings stayed at 840,447 BTC, purchased for almost $63.36 billion at an average price of $75,385 per Bitcoin.
Strategy also did not declare any sales of Bitcoin over the period.
The corporation used part of the cash to buy back around 1.43 million shares of STRC preferred stock for $136.4 million. It also topped up its existing US currency reserve by an additional $300 million.
The rest was transferred to a separate cash account in US dollars, which had $1.59 billion in it as of August 23.
Strategy had about $6.69 billion in combined cash pools, including $5.1 billion in reserve.
The new cash account provides management with greater options to respond to changing market situations, Strategy said. The cash can be utilised for future Bitcoin purchases, preferred stock dividend payments, debt obligations, and share repurchases.
The corporation originally built its US currency reserve in December 2025, with $1.44 billion to help cover preferred-stock dividends and interest payments.
Since then, the plan has continued to accumulate cash holdings as it tries to improve its financial situation while remaining true to its long-term Bitcoin-oriented plan.
Its reserves of US dollars jumped from $900 million at the end of May to $5.1 billion on August 23.
So far, Strategy has preserved its Bitcoin holdings and built a strong cash position that may allow the firm more flexibility for future investments, financial obligations, and possible Bitcoin buys.
