Apple Temporarily Takes Telegram Off App Store For CSAM Violation

Telegram was briefly deleted from Apple’s App Store worldwide between August 3 and August 4, 2026, prohibiting consumers from downloading the chat app. The program was showing errors on the App Store saying it was unavailable at that time, but old installs were still working fine.

Apple and Telegram did not respond immediately to a request for comment on the sudden withdrawal. Initial reports indicated the problem was a brief content policy violation, and those claims have since been confirmed.

Apple temporarily pulled Telegram from the App Store after a routine assessment found a major violation of App Store regulations. Apple’s rigorous rules prohibit hosting content involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM), however, the platform was found to be hosting that stuff. Apple said in an official statement released on X that it has a zero-tolerance policy for CSAM on the App Store and that it found the unlawful content and responded quickly.

Telegram promptly removed the offending content from its platform. The business also tracked down the account that posted the information and banned the individual permanently.

Following those efforts, Apple reinstated Telegram to the App Store, and users could find and download the software as usual.

But both corporations have been fairly silent about the circumstances of the incident despite the swift resolution. A spokeswoman for Apple did not immediately respond to media queries for further comment on the guideline infringement, the reports said.

Telegram also declined to provide a thorough explanation when asked by the press. The corporation, instead, dealt with the problem with a short post on X.
