Petrol & Diesel Prices in Pakistan Today (3rd August 2026)

The federal government has formally announced the daily fuel pricing mechanism under which petrol and diesel prices will henceforth fluctuate every 24 hours. Since 17 July 2026, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has been working on revising the ex-depot prices of petroleum products on a daily basis, allowing Pakistan to respond swiftly to changes in the international oil market.

OGRA has released the updated petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices effective for 3 August 2026. The daily pricing mechanism is designed to allow local fuel prices to closely follow worldwide market movements while cushioning the financial effect of abrupt spikes in global crude oil prices.

How Pakistan Moved to Daily Fuel Price Updates

Pakistan’s intention to change fuel prices daily comes as worldwide energy markets remain volatile. Ongoing geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East have badly disturbed world oil supplies and volatile pricing for crude oil.

Things got worse after repeated disruptions to shipping across the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s biggest oil transit routes. Renewed military activity and restrictions on commercial shipping continue to influence global supplies of petroleum, prompting oil importing countries such as Pakistan to change domestic fuel prices more often.

The administration believes the daily price updates will keep domestic fuel prices in sync with shifting import costs and ease the impact of abrupt major price spikes while the international oil markets remain volatile.
